Primary school means a lot to me and it’s sad that I am leaving next year but I have looked back on all my memories and realised that I have had an amazing time here and it is time to go. When I look back on my time here, the first thing that comes to mind is my first day of kindy. I remember that I said something weird to my mum and she started laughing. It was the best day of my life. I have made a few friends in my time here and I have lost some too, but the ones that have stayed with me all this time, have gotten me through a lot. School helps me keep my mind of things and helps me relax and overcome a lot of my anxiety. Two of my favourite memories was when I met my best friend and when I received my role as an Audio Visual team member. I have had a great time here but I think I’ll have a great time at high school too.
No More Fish in a Tree
Fish in a Tree is an amazing book filled with meaning and symbolism. Our class has just finished reading it and I would read it again. It has some parts where the author speaks to you through the characters and my favourite chapter was The Game of Life… It was a short chapter but that just symbolises how short life can be. Another favourite of mine was when Jessica stood up for herself and Ally when Shay tried to say something mean about Ally. Did you know the title Fish in a Tree came from Albert Einstein’s famous quote; “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I believe that because Ally couldn’t read and she was being judged on her ability to read at school so that’s where the quote fits in. Thank you for reading this post.
Doors, doors and doors
Stories have been told since the start of time and what made people interested? The start! All great stories always start with an engaging opening some famous ones are: “Christmas wont be Christmas without any presents,” grumbled Jo, lying on the rug, Where’s Papa going with that axe?” said Fern to her mother as they were setting the table for breakfast. and Call me Ishmael. I will be writing three story starters that include a simple thing, a door. There will be three genres that I will be writing about, the first is mystery, the second is horror and the third is fantasy.
The door. No one knows why its there and what’s inside. No ones known since the original owner of the house.
“Hello?” That voice sounded so familiar, so calm, so dead. Stuck behind that door for who knows how long?
The door felt warm on her cold, bony hands. She peeked inside and she saw a beautiful, white horse, grazing on a hill. So different from the dreaded place on the other side.
Mater Dei Orientation
School, school, school. That is a word dreaded by most children. I am usually one of those kids but that is until I went to orientation at Mater Dei. For those who don’t know, Mater Dei is a high school, a huge one at that. I was really nervous when I walked through the doors to the hall. I felt like a year one all over again. The first thing I did was find out my house. I discovered I’m in Mercy which is represented by the colour red. All the houses have zoo animals to represent them. Benedict has the tiger but that’s all I know. I had the chance to go to music and I adored it there! I got to try instruments but the one that really stuck out to me was the saxophone. It just sounds so right and peaceful to me. I also went to a materials class and I made a bag tag with my name on it so that was fun. The other classes I went to were sport and English and they were interesting too but music was definitely my favourite. Before lunch I took my picture for my smart rider and then we had lunch. I had to sit for a test and it was easy to me. That’s what happened on my orientation day, thank you for reading.
Mintox Gerald
While we were gathering videos and photos for the school assembly, we came across a tiny snail. He was out in the open so we put him in a garden. We named him Mintox Gerald and took some photos of him to put in the assembly. As you can see in the photo, he made a friend. His name is Sir Pickle. Mintox Gerald is a garden snail, he is a more common type of snail that can be found almost anywhere. His friend is an ant. Ants hold the record for fastest movement in the animal kingdom. Ants can also be found anywhere except Antarctica.
Fish in a Tree and Meccano
In class we have been doing a novel study of a book called ‘Fish in a Tree’. We have been reading it and answering questions about it. It is about a girl named Ally and she has severe dyslexia which means she can’t read and goes through all these adventures about friendship and learning to deal with bullies. Its a great book so far and I love all the hidden meanings in it. Another thing we have been doing is Meccano. Meccano is when we build a vehicle and it’s quite hard to do. I found out that is you drag the card backwards it goes forwards. Thank you for reading my blog.
Looney Ruby
We have been writing limericks in class and I want to share mine with you.
There once was a young girl named Ruby,
She wasn’t very gloomy.
In fact she was glad,
Not at all very sad,
Even though she was a looney!
Runaway Tarcos
On the first week of my holidays I was with my dad. The first thing we did was go to a Winter Wonderland! It had real ice for ice skating, a snow slide, rides and games. My brother was to small for the rides so he played games. I went on the bumper cards with my sisters and then they went on spinning swings. We also went to big parks, then week two arrived. I was at my mum’s house in week two and we went to the movies to watch Minions. We mostly relaxed for the rest of the holidays but we had to clip Quinn’s nails so then some drama happened, I don’t want to talk about it. Anyway my sister fractured her foot and the horse I ride (Tarco) ran away from me but we caught him. That’s the end of my post and I hope you enjoyed.
The Horse and the Ladybug
I go to an anxiety class and yesterday we did spirit animal cards. To get your spirit animals you hover your hand over all the cards and when you feel a special tingle you pick up the cards and look at them. I got a ladybug and a horse! I was really shocked and exited as horses are my favourite animals. The horse card said trust your feelings and the ladybug said notice the little things and I think those cards are perfect for me.
Netballs, Horses and Art
I have quite a few hobbies and I would like to share them with you. First hobby is horse riding, the horse I ride is named Tarco and he is around 20 years old. Second hobby is netball, in my opinion I am good at netball as I have been playing it since I was 5. My final hobby is drawing. I love to draw animals and landscapes, it’s super relaxing and makes me happy when I have completed a ‘masterpiece’.
